McLoud has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Kingfisher Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. McLoud will be strutting in after a win while Kingfisher will be coming in after a defeat.
Two weeks ago, McLoud got themselves on the board against Mannford, but Mannford never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Pirates as they made off with a 20-0 victory. The win was just what McLoud needed coming off of a 34-13 defeat in their prior matchup.
McLoud found their leader in underclassman Zaylun Matlock, who picked up 57 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 28 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Mannford to a paltry 71 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to McLoud's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Caleb Coleman and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 38 points the game before, Kingfisher were a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They fell to Metro Christian 14-10.
McLoud now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Kingfisher, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
McLoud came up short against Kingfisher in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 21-14. Can McLoud avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
