If Petrides were riding high off their 57-22 takedown of Goldstein last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Petrides' rough 63-40 loss to Notre Dame Academy on Sunday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Petrides can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Notre Dame Academy is ranked 19th).
Caitlin Sweeney continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Notre Dame Academy, scoring 15 points along with two steals. Sweeney has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kayla Marsh, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Petrides' loss dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Notre Dame Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.
Petrides does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Notre Dame Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against St. Joseph Hill Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. St. Joseph Hill Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
