Trimble County is a perfect 10-0 against Owen County since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Raiders will welcome the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. Trimble County knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Owen County likes a good challenge.
Trimble County gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Boone County as they made off with a 13-2 win.
Alyssa Ritchie made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Ava Newton was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Ainslie Stark was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Trimble County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .576 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Owen County hadn't done well against Grant County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Rebels won by a run and slipped past the Braves 8-7.
Like Trimble County, Owen County also got a great game from a two-way player: Hallie Tirey. On the mound, she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Tirey was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Tirey wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andie Baumann, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Baumann has posted since back in March. Another was Abigayle Dempsey, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Trimble County's victory bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Owen County, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Trimble County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. However, it's not like Owen County struggles in that department as they've averaged .472. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Trimble County came out on top in a nail-biter against Owen County when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
