Norview is 0-10 against Maury since May of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Pilots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Commodores at 4:30 p.m. Norview has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Granby hit Norview with a six-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pilots took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Comets.
Jay Leigh made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one run and one double. Another player making a difference was Landon Otero, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Maury came up short against Norfolk Academy on Wednesday and fell 7-4.
Landon Strauss put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Maury is 3-1 when Strauss posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Lee Garris was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. Walter Rieger was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Norview's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Maury, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Norview has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Maury struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Norview suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Maury when the teams last played back in April. Will the Pilots have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
