District 10 Region 4 AA recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to North East, who took down 249th ranked North East, 10-0. Shannon Jackson ran for 225 yards in the win.
Girard was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fourth in District 10 Region 4 AA. The Yellowjackets beat Seneca 37-0 earlier in the week.
Corry's dynamic duo of Nathanel Smith and Patrick Brown proved tough for Fort LeBoeuf to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Smith threw for 60 yards and one touchdown and Brown had 50 yards receiving. Tyler Engle helped Corry's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.
The Beavers' Smith and Engle have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 489 yards this season, while Engle, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 12 catches for 165 yards. Fairview's Jackson leads the league in rushing yards with 894.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Corry takes on second place Northwestern. Corry defeated the Bison last week, while Northwestern bested Harbor Creek.
Girard moved up to 404 from 526 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in District 10 Region 4 AA. Jim Funk's team was able to make the jump by beating the Bobcats 37-0.
