Iroquois West/Tri-Point couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 12-1 walloping at the hands of the Herscher Tigers on Wednesday.
For Herscher's part, they got a great performance from Anistin Hackley as she didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Hackley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Emma Powers was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Allie Decman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
