The Lakewood Leopards will head out on the road to challenge the Neuse Charter Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakewood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Lakewood scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 59-19 victory over Hobbton at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-6.
Among those leading the charge was Alexis Rhodes, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Honestee William, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Neuse Charter slipped by Rosewood 21-20 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Neuse Charter.
Neuse Charter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cayley Cochran, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Addyson Barefoot was another key contributor, scoring no points along with nine rebounds and seven steals.
Lakewood's record now sits at 8-10. As for Neuse Charter, the win got them back to even at 12-12.
Lakewood was able to grind out a solid win over Neuse Charter in their previous meeting back in January, winning 43-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakewood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
