Even though the Lakeview Bulldogs have not done well against the Brookfield Warriors recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Everything went Lakeview's way against Brookfield as Lakeview made off with a 48-27 win. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 20% better than the opposition, as Lakeview's was.
Leading Lakeview to victory were Mackenzie Stowe and Annabelle Humphrey. Stowe scored 11 points, while Humphrey scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Paige Schwartz was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.
When it comes to explaining why Brookfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cailey Wellman. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Jumper, who scored 11 points.
Lakeview's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Brookfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Lakeview will look to defend their home court on Friday against Champion at 6:15 p.m. Champion presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lakeview in Ohio (Champion is ranked 107th, while Lakeview is ranked 339th). As for Brookfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Springfield at 6:00 p.m. on November 30th. Hopefully Springfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday.
