The Appling County Pirates's game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They strolled past Windsor Forest with points to spare, taking the game 61-47. The high-flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Appling County considering their 23-point performance the game before.
Leading Appling County to victory were Shamiah Barnum and Ke?niyah White. Barnum scored 20 points, while White scored 30 points. White is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last three games she's played.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trinity Myers, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Ellington, who scored 13 points.
Appling County's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Windsor Forest, they dropped their record down to 5-12 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Appling County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Wayne County at 5:00 p.m. on January 27th. Wayne County will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Appling County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Windsor Forest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Vidalia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Vidalia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Friday.
