Chester is 0-10 against Interboro since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Clippers will welcome the Buccaneers at 3:30 p.m. Chester has given up an average of 15.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Chester fell victim to Chichester and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 23-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Clippers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Interboro came out on top against Academy Park on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Buccaneers put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 12-1 win. Considering the Buccaneers have won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Austin Dean was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Interboro got a massive performance out of JJ Nelson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave Nelson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Interboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Interboro is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Chester, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Chester has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Interboro struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Chester might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Interboro in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Clippers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
