The Moniteau Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the Brockway Rovers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Moniteau is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Moniteau is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past East Forest/West Forest 24-6 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Lexi Mcghee was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mcghee was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Stewart, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Lily Staab also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Moniteau always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .738. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Brockway came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Raiders 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rovers have posted since May 11, 2024.
Navayda Smith tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Elysabeth Myers was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Rheanna Spinda, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Brockway pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Moniteau, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-3.
Both Moniteau and Brockway just can't seem to miss. The Warriors have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Brockway struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Moniteau took their victory against Brockway when the teams last played back in April of 2021 by a conclusive 22-2 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Rovers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
