Downers Grove North scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They claimed a resounding 74-13 victory over Oak Park-River Forest at home. That 74-13 margin sets a new team best for Downers Grove North this season.
Downers Grove North found their leader in underclassman Ady Fanta, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Fanta set a new season high mark in rebounds with five. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Parker, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Hinsdale Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 70-53 to Lyons. While losing is never fun, Hinsdale Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Lyons is ranked 86th).
Downers Grove North pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Hinsdale Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Downers Grove North was able to grind out a solid win over Hinsdale Central when the teams last played back in January, winning 41-29. Will Downers Grove North repeat their success, or does Hinsdale Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
