Given Valiant Cross Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Macon-East Montgomery Academy is ranked 322nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Valiant Cross Academy found their leader in underclassman Deshawn Hall, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hall has scored at least a third of Valiant Cross Academy's points. Another player making a difference was John Cosby, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Valiant Cross Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-15.
