The Woodward Boomers lost against the Liberal Redskins on January 2nd, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Woodward took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Liberal. Woodward has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Liberal got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hailey Contreras out in front who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Contreras is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamari Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Woodward has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Liberal, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodward will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Duncan at 5:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Liberal, they will challenge Hooker at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
