Northwest is 0-10 against Tipton since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Northwest Mustangs will be playing at home against the Tipton Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. Northwest is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Even though Northwest has not done well against Stover recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Northwest came out on top against Stover by a score of 59-47. Given Northwest's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Stover is ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
In what's become a running theme this season, Tipton gave their fans yet another huge victory last Sunday. They breezed by Northeast on the road to the tune of 69-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Tipton has posted since December 8, 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tipton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Schlotzhauer, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. Schlotzhauer is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Charlee Bailey, who scored 21 points along with five assists and two steals.
Northwest's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Tipton, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
Northwest was dealt a bruising 88-38 loss at the hands of Tipton in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Northwest, Myra Claas (who scored 36 points along with five assists and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
