The Bryan Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Hutto Hippos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Bryan is ranked 369th, while Hutto is ranked 356th).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 49-21, which was the final score in Bryan's tilt against Midway on Friday. Bryan has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
tj love put forth a good effort for the losing side as he picked up 116 receiving yards and a touchdown. Love was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 65 yards.
Meanwhile, even though Copperas Cove scored an imposing 33 points on Friday, Hutto still came out on top. Hutto snuck past Copperas Cove with a 38-33 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Hutto.
It was another big night for Will Hammond, who threw for 415 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.3% of his passes, and also punched in three touchdowns on the ground. Hammond is on a roll when it comes to passing yards, as he's now passed for 300 or more in the last four games he's played. Devin Mcmarion did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 88 receiving yards.
Midway's victory bumped their season record to 4-5 while Bryan's loss dropped theirs to 3-5.
Bryan took their victory against Hutto when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 58-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bryan since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
