The Tehachapi Warriors put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Bakersfield as Tehachapi made off with a 35-14 victory. The result was nothing new for Tehachapi, who have now won ten contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tehachapi to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacob Root, who threw for 142 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes. AJ Anderson and his 83 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Tehachapi's win.
Another reason for the win was Tehachapi's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Leo Gonzalez and his two sacks.
Bakersfield's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Iniguez, who threw for 311 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt.
Tehachapi's win was their 11th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 11-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 West and 1-9 East Bakersfield (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.3% over those games). As for Bakersfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
Tehachapi will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Central Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Central Valley Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Tehachapi likes a good challenge. Bakersfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
