The Fleming Wildcats's and the Arickaree Bison's's matchup on Saturday was close at halftime, but the Fleming Wildcats turned on the heat in the second half with 24 points. Fleming put the hurt on Arickaree with a sharp 44-24 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Fleming.
Fleming found their leader in underclassman Brooke Schaefer, who scored 14 points along with six steals. Schaefer is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Madi Serrato was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Arickaree still got an impressive performance from RAEYA SCHROCK, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four steals. SCHROCK is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was JULISA QUINTEROS, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Fleming's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Arickaree, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fleming's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Lone Star at 4:00 p.m. on December 19th. Arickaree will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Deer Trail at 5:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Deer Trail's defense has only allowed 23 points per game this season, so Arickaree's offense will have their work cut out for Arickaree.
