The Lincoln Lions will venture away from home to take on the Hayes Pacers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
It was a proper cat-fight when Lincoln took on Pickerington North on Monday. The Lions blew past the Panthers 10-4.
Fotini Belak looked comfortable as she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Lincoln got a massive performance out of Madi Hall, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Bella Costa, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 10-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Hayes came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with 15 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The Pacers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.
Bronwynn Leighty was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Leighty was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Grace Singleton was incredible, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and one double while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Zee Brown, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Hayes' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Lincoln hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Hayes struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
