On Friday, Gate City came up short against Westside and fell 60-52. Gate City has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Westside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kmajay Jenkins, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Jenkins set a new season high mark in blocks with three. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiyelle Hollings, who scored 16 points.
Gate City now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Westside, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Gate City will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on John Battle at 8:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Westside's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wade Hampton on December 27th. Wade Hampton has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 22.
