It was a good run, but the St. Anne Cardinals unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Manteno by a score of 51-48. While losing is never fun, St. Anne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while Manteno is ranked 225th).
When it comes to explaining why St. Anne lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Davis. Despite the final result, he scored 31 points. The match was Davis' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Chris Link was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
St. Anne's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Manteno, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
St. Anne and Grant Park will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Manteno and Herscher will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Herscher is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
