Purdue Broad Ripple had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Muncie Burris on Wednesday. The Lynx were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over the Owls. The Lynx might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Kyler Jones made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Holder, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two triples, three RBI, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April. Ryan Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Purdue Broad Ripple always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Muncie Burris only posted an OBP of .435.

The win (which was Purdue Broad Ripple's third in a row) raised their record to 8-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Muncie Burris, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.
