The Tippecanoe Valley Vikings entered their tilt with the Winamac Warriors with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Tippecanoe Valley strolled past Winamac with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 44-30. Given Tippecanoe Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Winamac is ranked 159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Tippecanoe Valley to victory were Ava Egolf and Chesnee Miller. Egolf scored 15 points along with seven rebounds, while Miller scored 14 points along with seven steals. The matchup was Egolf's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carlee Snyder, who scored four points along with six rebounds and five blocks.
Despite the defeat, Winamac saw an underclassman step up: Marissa Iverson scored four points along with five rebounds. Iverson set a new season high mark in blocks with two.
Tippecanoe Valley pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Winamac, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.
Tippecanoe Valley's road trip will continue as they head out to face Western at 6:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Western has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Winamac will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Knox at 6:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
