The Rickards Raiders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 69-49 margin over Florida State University High School. Given Rickards' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Florida State University High School is ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rickards was led to victory by Amirahs Hayes and Genesis Henry. Hayes scored 14 points along with seven assists, while Henry scored 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for Henry. The team also got some help courtesy of Jariyah Jordan, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Florida State University High School lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Taylor Hackett, who scored seven points along with six steals. Hackett hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Emilie Robertson, who scored 16 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Rickards and bumps their season record up to 2-2. As for Florida State University High School, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.
Rickards will look to defend their home court on Friday against P.K. Yonge at 3:00 p.m. Hopefully P.K. Yonge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday. As for Florida State University High School, they will head out on the road to face off against Rutherford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Rutherford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
