The Central Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Macon County, falling 85-55. Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-23.
Central's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Joshua Seldon, who scored 20 points, and Demarcus White who scored 16 points. Seldon scored a full 36.4% of Central's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Demontez Howard, who scored seven points.
Leading Macon County to victory were Frankie Raines Jr and Dontavious Collier. Raines Jr scored 25 points along with seven assists and five rebounds, while Collier dropped a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds. The matchup was Collier's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lavoris Smith, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Central's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Macon County, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will take on Taylor County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Macon County and Dooly County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Dooly County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 386th, while Macon County is ranked 145th).
