El Cerrito is 6-1 against Bethel since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Gauchos will be playing at home against the Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. El Cerrito is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14.3 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between El Cerrito and Pinole Valley, and Pinole Valley kept the tradition alive. The Gauchos might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-2 to the Spartans, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Gauchos haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

El Cerrito saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arlie Tatum, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Tatum is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 12 games she's played. Another was Mia Martinez-Rojas, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bethel, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Kennedy 18-6 on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Jaguars considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Dakari Washington was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Lily Fjellman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Bethel's win bumped their record up to 3-13-1. As for El Cerrito, their loss dropped their record down to 13-2.
Bethel's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. El Cerrito has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bethel, though, as they've been averaging only 2.4 strikeouts. Will El Cerrito keep running through batters, or will the Jaguars buck the trend?
El Cerrito took their victory against Bethel in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 23-1 score. Do the Gauchos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
