Astoria is 10-0 against Tillamook since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Astoria Fishermen will look to defend their home court against the Tillamook Cheesemakers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Astoria has nine straight wins, Tillamook has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Astoria can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They blew past Scappoose 61-19 on the road. That looming 61-19 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Astoria yet this season.
Meanwhile, Tillamook ended up a good deal behind St. Helens on Saturday and lost 67-53. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tillamook in their matchups with St. Helens: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Tillamook saw an underclassman step up: Aubrey Hilton scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hilton has scored all season. Vivian Vogel was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Astoria pushed their record up to 10-4 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Tillamook, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Astoria against Tillamook in their previous matchup on January 9th as the squad secured a 67-28 victory. Does Astoria have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tillamook turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
