MacArthur is 0-7 against Chickasha since April of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Highlanders will challenge the Fighting Chicks at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, MacArthur needed a bit of extra time to put away Altus. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs, sneaking past 6-5. The Highlanders haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Meanwhile, while Chickasha put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Pauls Valley. The Fighting Chicks were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Chicks, who have now won 12 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Tyson Owens and Layton Bryan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Owens pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bryan didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Owens has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 11 consecutive appearances. At bat, Owens got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Bryan went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits Bryan has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lane Johnson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had over his last six games. Lane Jay was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Chickasha and bumps their season record up to 22-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for MacArthur, their record now sits at 18-14.
MacArthur couldn't quite finish off Chickasha in their previous matchup back in March and fell 5-3. Can the Highlanders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
