The Carroll Eagles posted their biggest win since December 18, 2023 on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cottonwood 68-36 on the road. Given Carroll's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Cottonwood is ranked 338th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carroll got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lakeith Person out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten assists. That's the first time this season that Person posted eight or more assists. Michael Culver was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with two steals.
Carroll has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Cottonwood, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Carroll on the road again on Tuesday and play against Headland at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Headland is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for Cottonwood, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Geneva County at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Geneva County is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
