The Cowan Blackhawks pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wes-Del. Cowan has not had much luck with Wes-Del recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Several Blackhawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cole Duncan, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Duncan has scored all season. Timmy Watson was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Wes-Del's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah Love, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Corben Price, who scored 17 points.
Cowan has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Wes-Del, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9.
Cowan will take on Wapahani at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Wapahani focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six last Friday. As for Wes-Del, Wes-Del and Madison-Grant will face off at 2:30 p.m. on February 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Madison-Grant is ranked 376th, while Wes-Del is ranked 354th).
