Fort Chiswell is 8-2 against the Blue Devils since February of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Fort Chiswell Pioneers will head out on the road to take on the Grayson County Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. Fort Chiswell is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Fort Chiswell came up short against the Spartans and fell 47-34. That's two games in a row now that Fort Chiswell has lost by exactly 13 points.
Grayson County was handed a 52-point defeat in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against the Maroon Tide on Friday. Grayson County had just enough and edged the Maroon Tide out 42-39. The win was just what Grayson County needed coming off of a 70-18 defeat in their prior match.
Grayson County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Austin Dowell out in front who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Mac Goad was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Fort Chiswell has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Grayson County, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.
Everything went Fort Chiswell's way against the Blue Devils in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the Pioneers made off with a 55-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fort Chiswell since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
