Pomona got a massive performance out of Mayrin Hernandez-Linares, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those stolen bases marked the first that Hernandez-Linares has snagged this season. Vanessa Hernandez was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Meanwhile, Ganesha had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it 15 on Tuesday. They never let the Olympians get on the board and left with a 24-0 victory. Give the Giants' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.
Kalena Lemus tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single hit in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Hollynn Gentry was incredible, firing off two home runs, three RBI, and one double while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Ward, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.
Ganesha hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 17 consecutive contests.
Ganesha pushed their record up to 19-4-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pomona, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pomona has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. However, it's not like Ganesha struggles in that department as they've averaged .566. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
