The Central Lake Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Grand Traverse Academy Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Central Lake and 15 for Grand Traverse Academy.
Last Tuesday, Central Lake ended up a good deal behind Mancelona and lost 65-46. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Central Lake in their matchups with Mancelona: they've now lost nine in a row.
Grand Traverse Academy suffered their biggest defeat since December 11, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Brethren at home and fell 64-36.
Despite their loss, Grand Traverse Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Charlie Dennis, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dennis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Wilkins, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Central Lake's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Grand Traverse Academy, their loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-12.
Everything came up roses for Central Lake against Grand Traverse Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 71-25 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central Lake since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
