Hillsborough is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Plant City is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The two teams will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hillsborough knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Plant City likes a good challenge.
Last Wednesday, Hillsborough beat Freedom by the very same score they won with last week: 56-50.
Meanwhile, even though Lennard scored an imposing 56 points on Wednesday, Plant City still came out on top. Plant City put the hurt on Lennard with a sharp 78-56 win. Given Plant City's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Lennard is ranked 502nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Gavin Tinsley, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Leroy Lucas, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
The win got Hillsborough back to even at 9-9. As for Plant City, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2.
Hillsborough came up short against Plant City in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 72-61. Can Hillsborough avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
