Denver Academy is 0-3 against SkyView Academy since February of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Mustangs will host the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Denver Academy has given up an average of 59 points per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Denver Academy is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Dayspring Christian Academy on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Mustangs lost 64-42 to the Eagles.
Despite their loss, Denver Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chris Janssen, who posted 21 points in addition to five boards and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Harrison Dority was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask SkyView Academy). They breezed past Union Colony Prep to the tune of 86-43 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Hawks, who have now won three games in a row.
SkyView Academy's win came from a few key players that Denver Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brady McGrath, who went 9-for-15 en route to 23 points. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 42.5% three-point shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Eschmann, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 19 points and six steals.
SkyView Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 7.5 offensive rebounds per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 12.4.
Denver Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for SkyView Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Denver Academy has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.1 boards per game. However, it's not like SkyView Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Denver Academy was taken down by SkyView Academy 88-15 in their previous meeting back in January of 2025. Thankfully for the Mustangs, Isaac Dove (who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
