Softball Recap: Poquoson Wins Going Away Against Lafayette

Poquoson won the last time they faced Lafayette and things went their way on Monday too. The Islanders were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Rams. The result was nothing new for the Islanders, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Brooklyn Mason, who fired off three triples, four runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. Those three triples gave her a new career-high. Tinley Goodson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Poquoson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Poquoson's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Lafayette, they are on a 39-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poquoson will head out to challenge Warhill at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Islanders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lafayette, they will venture away from home to take on Grafton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
