The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots won the last time they faced the Madison Dragons, and things went their way on Saturday too. Clarkson/Leigh took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 51-13 win over Madison. The squad ran away with 41 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.
Leading Clarkson/Leigh to victory were Brynn Settje and Chloe Hanel. Settje scored 12 points along with 5 steals, while Hanel scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Hanel has scored at least 25% of Clarkson/Leigh's points.
Salena Duinkerken and Karla Atanacio certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Duinkerken scored 12 points, while Atanacio scored 0 points. Duinkerken scored a full 92.3% of Madison's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Madison struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Clarkson/Leigh pulled down 12.
The win got Clarkson/Leigh back to even at 1-1. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
Clarkson/Leigh will be playing in front of their home fans against Oakland-Craig at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Oakland-Craig focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Saturday. As for Madison, they will head out on the road to face off against Elkhorn Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Elkhorn Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
