Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Lafayette Commodores walked away with it. They snuck past Canton with a 14-10 victory on Friday. Winning may never get old, but Lafayette sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Leading Lafayette to victory were Nick Thompson and Makyi Reed jones. Thompson threw for 92 yards and two touchdowns, while Reed jones picked up 80 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Reed jones' longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards.
Lafayette is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Canton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
Lafayette will face off against Clarksdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clarksdale is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games. Canton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
