After flying high against the Central Private Redhawks last Wednesday, the Northeast Vikings came back down to earth. Northeast was outmatched by Southern Lab on the road and fell 65-38. Northeast has struggled against Southern Lab recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Braylon Guerin, who scored seven points along with three blocks and two steals. That's the first time this season that Guerin posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Jeromone Sampson, who scored three points along with five rebounds and five blocks.
It was another big night for Bryson Chapman, who scored 22 points for Southern Lab. Chapman is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Hardnett, who scored 12 points.
Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Southern Lab, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-8.
Northeast won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. Helena College and Career Academy at 10:00 a.m. on January 6th. As for Southern Lab, they will be playing at home against White Castle at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. White Castle will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Southern Lab is ranked 87th).
