8A District 2 recap September 24, 2013
Daniel BROWN and Nick WESTBROOK provided fans with a highlight when they connected against DeLand. The longest such play in 8A District 2 this season, the connection resulted in 54 yards.
Lyman moved up to 86 from 128 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Greyhounds climbed the ranks as a result of besting Seminole 35-7.
Joseph Baker was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 146 yards on 22 carries as the Seminoles topped the Bulldogs. Oskar Valera also contributed to the rushing game with 30 yards on the ground.
WESTBROOK was the best wideout in 8A District 2 this week as the Rams topped DeLand. WESTBROOK racked up 3 receptions for 68 yards.
Hunter Nordman put up the best numbers through the air as James Thomson's team lost to Lake Mary. He finished with 7 completions for 53 yards. Nordman's favorite target this week was Charles Nordman, who caught 5 passes for 36 yards.
Jasias Bonaparte made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Bulldogs lost to Scott Perry's team. The 6-foot-2 defensive back.
BROWN was a passing and rushing force as the Rams beat DeLand. He completed 5 passes for 90 yards and also ran for 71 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Nordman and Stevionte Bruten, the Bulldogs have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Nordman is tops in the league in passing with 310 yards, while Bruten has rushed for 462 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Lake Mary's WESTBROOK, with 189 yards on 15 catches.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Rams' WESTBROOK goes up against Seminole's Je'wahn Williams.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Lyman takes on Lake Brantley. Jeff Gierke's team is in fourth place, while the Patriots are in second place.
Lake Brantley led the league in scoring this week by notching 45 points on University.
