The Killingly Redmen's three-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They blew past Lyman Memorial 60-40. Killingly has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 20 points or more this season.
Despite the loss, Lyman Memorial had strong showings from Jenny Lopez, who scored 19 points along with six assists and three steals, and Phoebe Carpenter, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lopez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Dunnack, who scored four points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
The win got Killingly back to even at 5-5. As for Lyman Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Killingly will challenge Norwich Free Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Norwich Free Academy is ranked 55th, while Killingly is ranked 70th). As for Lyman Memorial, they will head out on the road to square off against Stonington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
