Mt. Pulaski had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They took down the Monticello Sages 47-31. Given the Hilltoppers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Sages are ranked 423rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Megan Allen and Ali Weidner certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Allen posted eight points in addition to eight boards and three steals, while Weidner put up nine points and three steals. Weidner is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played.

Mt. Pulaski's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Monticello, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Mt. Pulaski wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 63-30 victory against Midwest Central/Delavan on the 9th. As for Monticello, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-32 loss against Sullivan on the 10th.
