The Glens Falls Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Johnstown Sir Bills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Glens Falls is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Johnstown in New York (Glens Falls is ranked 173rd, while Johnstown is ranked 397th).
Even though Glens Falls has not done well against South Glens Falls recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Glens Falls came out on top against South Glens Falls by a score of 59-50. Glens Falls' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Glens Falls' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Piper Eddy, who scored 18 points. Carolyn Lunt was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Johnstown, who are still winless after their seventh match. They were dealt a 59-17 loss at the hands of Scotia-Glenville on Thursday. Johnstown has struggled against Scotia-Glenville recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Glens Falls pushed their record up to 4-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Johnstown, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
Everything came up roses for Glens Falls against Johnstown when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 74-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Glens Falls since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
