The Marcos de Niza Padres will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the McClintock Chargers at 5:30 p.m. on November 30th. Hopefully Marcos de Niza focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 47 last Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Marcos de Niza had to suffer through a rough 42-5 loss at the hands of South Mountain.
Despite their defeat, Marcos de Niza saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jaydien Giles, who dropped a double-double on 12 rebounds and 10 blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Giles is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, McClintock blew past Tempe, posting a 75-11 victory on the road.
Lamaiya Woodberry was a one-man wrecking crew for McClintock as she scored 25 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sakayla Cummings, who scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 1-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Marcos de Niza have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28 rebounds per game. However, it's not like McClintock struggles in that department as they've been even better at 30 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
