The Grulla Gators lost against the Raymondville Bearkats back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Grulla received a tough blow as they fell 31-13 to Raymondville. Grulla has struggled against Raymondville recently, as their match on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Raymondville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chris Gonzalez, who picked up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 46 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Gonzalez's longest reception was for an incredible 89 yards. Luis De La Paz was another key contributor, throwing for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.
Grulla now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Raymondville, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.
Grulla will square off against Port Isabel at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Port Isabel will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Raymondville, they will look to defend their home field on October 27th against Bishop at 7:30 p.m.
