The Thornton Trojans won the last time they faced the Conifer Lobos, and things went their way on Monday too. Thornton enjoyed a cozy 39-24 victory over the Lobos.
Julionna Sandoval had a dynamite game for Thornton, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. Sandoval is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Camryn Montelongo was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Conifer saw an underclassman step up: Megan Swearengin scored 11 points.
Thornton's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Conifer, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thornton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Norsemen at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Northglenn is ranked 232nd, while the Trojans are ranked 250th). As for Conifer, they will head out on the road to square off against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Littleton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday.
