The match between them and Northern Guilford wasn't particularly close, with Western Guilford falling 73-59. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Western Guilford in their matchups with Northern Guilford: they've now lost seven in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Western Guilford lost, one person who can't be blamed is Leila Henderson. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with four blocks and two steals. Henderson hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Star Hughes, who scored 14 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Northern Guilford found their leader in underclassman Leena McField, who scored 34 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which McField has scored at least a third of Northern Guilford's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malena DeLisa, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists.
Western Guilford has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Northern Guilford, their victory was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1.

Western Guilford's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Southeast Guilford at 6:15 p.m. on February 13th. Western Guilford has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 179 points over their last three matches. As for Northern Guilford, they will be playing at home against Page at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Page will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 310th, while Northern Guilford is ranked 11th).
