After flying high against Drew on Friday, the Northside Patriots came back down to earth. Northside's rough 70-46 defeat to the Hawks on Saturday might stick with them for a while. Northside has not had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Loss or not, Northside got some senior leadership from Morgan Thomas and Zariah Davis. Thomas scored 17 points, while Davis. scored 16 points. That was a full 34.8% of Northside's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Hardaway got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mikayla Johnson out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Akilah Shelton was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Northside has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Hardaway, the win was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside will take on the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Northgate focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday. As for Hardaway, they will be playing at home against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Shaw will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Hawks are ranked 44th).
