The Goreville Blackcats stacked an 18th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Century 67-39 on the road. The win was nothing new for Goreville as they're now sitting on six straight.
It was another big night for Abby Compton, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Goreville's points. Breanna Suits was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Century's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karleigh Jones, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Jones hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Anderson, who scored five points.
Goreville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 28-3 record this season. As for Century, their loss dropped their record down to 19-4.
Goreville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Century will be playing at home against the Redbirds at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Frankfort is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 14-game streak of away losses.
