JC Bermudez Doral will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Hialeah Gardens, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. JC Bermudez Doral put the hurt on Hialeah Gardens with a sharp 11-2 win on Thursday.
Yan Cartaya made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Cartaya was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Jose Herrera was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Herrera is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stolen at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Brandon Santiso was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
JC Bermudez Doral always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hialeah Gardens only posted an OBP of .407.
Meanwhile, True North Classical Academy lost 11-5 to NSU University on Friday.
Alex Diaz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Mikey Cuenca made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Jayden Cedeno, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
True North Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for JC Bermudez Doral, their record now sits at 3-0.
JC Bermudez Doral came up short against True North Classical Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 8-3. Can JC Bermudez Doral avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
